Perfume bottles scattered across a dresser read as bathroom clutter. A 35 × 25 cm tray with a two-step riser, a glass cloche for the favorite and one warm light at the back reads as a boutique counter.
The problem
Fragrance bottles are designed objects, but scattered singly they disappear. Sunlight on a windowsill degrades the juice. And a flat lineup hides the bottles in the back row exactly like figures on a flat shelf.
The setup
Reference build: eight bottles on a 35 × 25 cm (14 × 10 in) tray — six on a two-step acrylic riser at the back, 17.8 cm (7 in) deep, leaving 7.2 cm (2.8 in) of tray depth for the two bottles in front — the favorite under a 15 cm (6 in) glass cloche beside the tray, one warm battery light on the dresser just behind the tray, all out of direct sun — a researched concept, not yet built by us.
Eight bottles sit on one 35 × 25 cm (14 × 10 in) tray: six staggered on a two-step acrylic riser at the back, three bottles per step, two more standing in the 7.2 cm (2.8 in) of tray depth left in front, where they're easy to reach. The favorite gets its own glass cloche, set beside the tray rather than on it — a dome that size would crowd everything else. Whatever sits outside the tray reads as everyday clutter; if that's not the look you want, keep the rest of the dresser top clear. One small battery light on the dresser just behind the tray — riser and front bottles fill the whole 25 cm (10 in) of tray depth — washes the glass from behind, and the whole spot stays out of direct sun.

Build it in four steps
- Choose a spot out of direct sun. Heat and UV break a fragrance down — a shaded stretch of dresser keeps it stable. Most fragrance houses say the same: away from light and heat — see e.g. Memo Paris' storage guide.
- Set the tray first. 35 × 25 cm (14 × 10 in) is enough for eight bottles; the frame defines the display and everything on it belongs.
- Build the two-step riser at the back. Six bottles, three per step, tallest at the back — the riser is 17.8 cm (7 in) deep, leaving 7.2 cm (2.8 in) of tray depth for the two more bottles that stand in front.
- Give the favorite its own cloche and add the light. The cloche sits beside the tray, not on it; one small warm battery light goes on the dresser right behind the tray.
What to look for
- Tray: mirrored, about 35 × 25 cm (14 × 10 in) — the frame that turns bottles into a display.
- Riser: two clear acrylic steps, sized for three bottles per step; add its depth to the two front bottles' footprint and check the total still fits inside the tray's depth.
- Cloche: a glass dome about 15 cm (6 in) across with an inside height that clears the favorite bottle by at least 2 cm (¾ in) — set beside the tray, not on it.
- Light: a small warm battery puck light (2700–3000 K), small enough to sit on the dresser right behind the tray — check it stays cool to the touch.

Three mistakes that ruin a fragrance shelf
- The windowsill. Prime light for photos, worst spot for the juice — sun and heat degrade fragrance.
- Skipping the tray. Without a defined base, eight beautiful bottles still read as bathroom clutter.
- Crowding the cloche's spot. It needs its own footprint beside the tray; jewelry and knickknacks pressed up against it undo the display.
